AREA DRUGS & THERAPEUTICS COMMITTEE : 11TH APRIL 2005 ACTION BY 23. MATTERS ARISING a ; Heart Failure Liaison Nurse Service Draft Medical Therapy Guidelines The Chairman advised that he had received some comments from Members on the above guidelines. He had written to Dr C Morrison giving the Committee's approval to the guidelines subject to minor amendments. NOTED b ; Declarations of Interest The Committee advised that Members had been sent a Declaration of Interest form to complete. Any Member who has not yet returned their form should do so. All Members' interest will be held in a register and kept by the Secretary. Once complete, the Declaration of Interest table will be put on the ADTC website. A discussion ensued on whether any changes to the membership of the Committee was required and whether a process should be put in place. This would be discussed at a future meeting. NOTED 24. SCOTTISH MEDICINE CONSORTIUM REVIEWS Dr Beard advised that the SMC advice on all the undernoted products should be treated in the strictest confidence until Monday, 9th May 2005 [and not 11th April 2005 as stated in the papers] when this advice would be published on the SMC website. This is due to the fact that the SMC has a period of "purdah" for four weeks when no public announcements are to be made due to the General Election. The Chairman asked Members to declare any interests, specific or non-specific, personal or non-personal, on any of the drugs being discussed on an individual basis. a ; Pegvisomant 10mg, 15mg, 20mg powder and solvent for injection Somavert ; [158 05] Dr Beard gave a summary of the above product. The SMC decision was as follows: "Not recommended for use within NHS Scotland". A discussion ensued and it was DECIDED: That this product should not be added to the Formulary. b ; Eflornithine 11.5% cream Vaniqa ; [159 05] Dr Beard gave a summary of the above product. The SMC decision was as follows: "Not recommended for use within NHS Scotland". A detailed discussion ensued and it was.
Researcher speculated that there might be differences in how individuals answered the questions based on their membership in a group. Responses to the interview questions were then coded from positive to negative. Neutral or noncommittal responses were coded as negative because they were seen as not supportive of the initiative. The responses were then compiled into emerging themes. Color coding was used for individual responses to maintain the validity of responses and to make sure that responses from one individual were coded as such. Demographic information from the interview process included gender, years of teaching experience, years of special education experience, years of involvement in the IEP process and years with the school district. The following table shows the range and average for each of the demographic details.

Activity of intestinal microorganisms. Af ter absorption the conversion to vitamin K2 20 ; is continued by intracellular syn thesis. Phylloquinone can also be absorbed without previous removal of the phytyl side chain. This can be explained by assuming either that there are quantita tive limitations to the removal of the chain by the microflora, or that the removal of the side chains is incidental to the intact absorption of phylloquinone. Probably there are also limitations to the intracellu lar synthesis of vitamin K2 20 from mena dione. Thus, when relatively small doses of vitamin K are needed when there is mild or no stress ; , menadione in its vari ous forms can be readily converted to the biologically active form of vitamin K2 2o to serve in prothrombin synthesis. When, however, menadione is used under condi tions of severe hypoprothrombinemia in duced by coumarin-type anticoagulants, vitamin K2 2 synthesis is insufficient to provide the necessary amounts of a bio logically active form of the vitamin. Chapter 12 The internal dose of the animals is determined after termination of the experiment in filet and plasma samples using a reporter gene assay for bio-analysis of dioxin-like toxic potency Murk et al., 1998 ; . Standard Metabolic rate and termination of the experiment After swimming 800-km the Swim-Control and Swim-PCB group were allowed to rest for 24 h and resting oxygen consumption was thereafter measured for a period of 4 hours as an estimate of the Standard Metabolic Rate SMR ; Fry 1971 ; . Hereafter the animals were anaesthetised and blood was collected with a heparinized syringe. After the animals were sacrificed several external parameters and blood parameters were determined and tissues collected. After the swim experiment the Rest-Control and Rest-PCB group were placed in the tunnels, after a 2 day habituation the resting oxygen consumption was measured for a period of 4 hours. Thereafter the eels were sacrificed and analysed as for the swim group. Fat extraction from muscle samples for determination of the internal dose Muscle samples for bio-analysis of TEQ-values were homogenized by scraping and mincing with a sharp razor. To a portion of 1 gram of this thick muscle homogenate 2 ml water was added and for 1 minute further homogenized with a high speed mixer Ultra Thurrax T25, Janke & Kunkel, Germany ; after which 2 ml of isopropyl alcohol was added. This mixture was sonicated for 10 minutes and a liquid liquid extraction was performed with 3 ml of hexane di-ethylether 97: 3, v v ; . The extraction was repeated twice after the addition of 2 drops of concentrated hydrochloric acid to enhance the extraction. The organic layers were pooled and evaporated under a gentle stream of N2 at 30C. The amount of fat extracted was determined gravimetrically. For the clean up of the extracts a multi-layer sulphuric acid silica column was used consisting of 1 g Na2SO4 on top of 2 grams of dried silica with 10% hexane pre-washed sulferic acid, 4 grams of dried silica with 20 % H2SO4 and 4 grams of dried silica with 33% H2SO4. The column was eluted with 40 ml of hexane: diethyl ether 97: 3, v v ; as described for sediment samples by Murk et al., 1998 ; . The eluate was dried with N2 at 30C and 12 l of DMSO was added just before complete evaporation of the organic solvent.

In general, the mixing of reagents is performed in a FI manner followed by CE separation of the reaction products. Figure 13 shows an electrophoresis chip developed in D. Jed Harrison's group, which can perform six independent immunoassays simultaneously. Under optimised conditions this manifold allowed six samples to be processed within 30 sec [76]. Solution-based enzyme assays that do not utilise electrokinetic flow have also been reported, for instance using air pressurised fluid reservoirs [174] and centrifugal force on a spinning circular plastic disk for fluid propulsion [77].

The identification and quantification of PTS sources and releases to the environment are poorly developed in the Region. Most of the results presented in this report refers to critical areas hot spots ; , and to a lesser extent, to stockpiles, acting as major environmental sources for the most common PTS. Industrial emissions and other point sources, including the unintended ones, are largely ignored, and there are no records available to estimate the real threats they may pose to humans and to the environment. However, at a regional level biomass burning has been identified as a major regional issue as an unintended source of PTS, including PAHs. The emissions of these compounds were estimated using emission factors USEPA ; and the value obtained ranged from 5007, 000 tonnes year. Even more critical is the assessment of compounds recently classified as potential PTS such as flame retardants, nonylphenols, tributhyltin, atrazine, for which there are no data available. Emissions of Dioxins and Furans to the atmosphere were estimated using both the UNEP toolkit as well as CO2 emissions. The value obtained for the whole region is relatively low 700 g TEQ year ; , comparable to those reported for many single European countries such as France, Belgium and UK. This regional estimate must be validated with experimental data. In relation to PCBs the main sources are inadequate use, disposal and maintenance of the available stock. In an increasing priority rank, PCBs were considered as the most important PTS issue for the region. The discharge of untreated effluents throughout the whole region is recognized as a major input pathway of PTS to the environment. 6.1.2 Environmental Levels, Toxicological And Ecotoxicological Characterization and pentasa.

This section provides a general overview of the goals and strategies of ASEAN and the macro and agricultural economy of its member countries. It illustrates the general setting for the discussion of the rest of the sections of this paper. Since its establishment in 1967, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations or ASEAN increased its membership from the five original countries Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand ; to six in 1984 with the accession of Brunei Darussalam, known as ASEAN 6. ASEAN membership expanded further to 10 when Cambodia, Myanmar, Lao PDR and Vietnam, known as CMLV, joined the Association between the period 1995 and 1999. The expansion in membership indicates the increasing awareness of the importance of joint effort and cooperation as a potential force in accelerating economic growth, social progress and cultural development, and in promoting regional peace and stability amidst diversities in resource endowments, considering the disparities in macro and agricultural economic development and trade conditions Tables 1 and 2 and pentobarbital.
